UNESCO reports that 35 million people have autism worldwide. This means an average of 6 out of 1,000 people in the world suffer from autism. In Indonesia alone in the Year 2015 is estimated there are approximately 12,800 children with autism and 134.000 people with spectrum Autism. In West Sumatera, the number of people with autism in schools was higher than the number of people with autism in schools. This study aims to determine "the effectiveness of occupational therapy therapy: cognitive (remember image) to increase cognitive abilities in children of school-aged autism At SLB Autisma Permata Bunda Bukittinggi 2017". The type of this research is Quasi experiment with one group pretest posttes approach. Sampling technique is a total sampling of 15 children of school-aged autism children. Data collection using cognitive developmental observation sheets. The results obtained before intervention were mean 60,27 (doubtful) and after intervention became mean 64,73 (according to development stage) where p value = 0.001 (α <0.05). It can be concluded that occupational therapy: cognitive (remember image) is effective against the improvement of cognitive abilities in school-age autism children. To the officials of SLB Autis Permata Bunda in order to routinely perform occupational therapy as one of nursing intervention to cognitive development of children with autism. It is expected that with this research, the therapies that have been studied can be useful in providing intervention, especially children who experience cognitive developmental disorder in order to better achievement in learning.
